Shottesbrooke McLaren Vale Merlot 2006

In the early 1980’s we planted Merlot in the Shottesbrooke Vineyards to provide a blending option for Cabernet Sauvignon. We were quick to
realise the with the generous climate and ideal soils of McLaren Vale that Merlot had the depth of character and varietal definition to stand alone as
a 100% varietal. Shottesbrooke Merlot in now a benchmark for this variety.

Colour: Cherry red with a fresh vibrancy mellowing to
deep red.

Nose: Mulberries and black cherries complexed with
some oak and spice

Palate: Medium bodied excellent varietal expression,
velvety mouthfeel with fine oak and grape tannin.

The wine is fermented on skins in both roto and static fermenters with pump over cap management. Maturation in medium toast French and American oak. We have sealed this wine under screw cap to ensure the wine is free from cork taint. Drink now until 2012
