Nick Holmes - Winemaker and Managing Director

Nick has previously been winemaker for Taylors Wines in the Clare Valley where he did his first vintage in 1973. In 1977 Nick left the Clare Valley to travel and work overseas, returning to South Australia to pursue his dream of creating his own wine label. He purchased 12 hectares of land on Fleurieu Peninsula in 1980 and in 1989 acquired land at McLaren Flat to develop vineyards and make the home of Shottesbrooke wines. Nick has also worked at Ryecroft as Senior Winemaker whilst planting vineyards and building the Shottesbrooke label.

 

Hamish Maguire - Winemaker

Hamish is the step son of Nick and has grown up in the family business. He has worked vintages in France and Spain, and has been making the wines at Shottesbrooke since 2003. He regularly travels overseas to support export activities, especially into Europe.

 

 

Alexandra Felgate - Cellar Door Manager

Alexandra is responsible for managing the Cellar Door along with administration/accounting side of the business. She also keeps everyone sane and on track - which is quite a task!

 

 

Merlot - Cellar Door Watch Dog

Merlot was a recent purchase and he resides at cellar door. When you visit us you can meet him - he won't bite and keeps the kids entertained! He was created by Adelaide Hills artist Tristian Smith.
